Varmala or Jaimala is an Indian wedding tradition in which the bride and groom put fresh flower garlands into each other’s necks at the beginning of the marriage ceremony. India is a massive country and variations occur depending on the region and community where the wedding ceremony is taking place, and as such ‘varmala‘ is often employed in certain parts instead of ‘jaimala‘.
